Nancy Achberger

Resident Artist

Nancy’s oil paintings are a loose impressionistic style. Most of the work is completed in Plein Air, in the open air, on location. Her favorite subject is the landscapes and landmarks in and around Cincinnati and the Miami Valley, which fits perfectly with her love of history and architecture. Nancy enjoys teaching and learning from other artists and has organized many Plein air events. She believes that painting and studying how light and color change outside helps to develop better studio paintings.

Nancy has received awards for her figurative work as well as painting; including the 2009 and 2011 Duveneck Purchase Awards at the Duveneck Art Show, the Cincinnati Art Club Viewpoint Show and the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati. She has work in the permanent collection at the University of Cincinnati’s Clermont College, the Zanesville Art Center and the Kenton County Public Library.

Nancy has studied and painted with accomplished artists and has studied plein air painting with Chuck Marshall, Steve Jenkins, Ray Hazzard and Bill Farnsworth. Studio painting with Joe Lombardo and Stanka Kordic and classical realism from David Mueller.

Nancy Achberger graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design with an Illustration and Advertising BFA degree and worked in the commercial art field. In 1999, she started exploring her own style of painting. She has been painting en plein air since 2003.

Nancy is a signature member of both the Cincinnati Art Club and the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati, President of the Cincinnati Brush and Palette Painters of and a member of the Ohio Plein Air Society and the South West Ohio Plein Air Painters.
